A 26-year-old man, identified as Usman Bube, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to rape his pregnant neighbour’s wife in the Ogatalo Fulani Camp in the Imala area of Ogun State. Nigerian Police said that the suspect allegedly broke into his neighbour’s apartment at about 12.45pm on Thursday to commit the crime. The husband of the survivor, Muhammed Awwalu, our correspondent learned, had travelled out of the community and left his pregnant wife in the apartment. Having known that Awwalu had travelled out of town, the suspect was said to have forced his way into his apartment, where he found the pregnant wife sleeping. When t he suspect’s several frantic attempts to forcefully engage in unlawful sexual intercourse with the woman failed, he was said to have drawn out a knife and attempted to silence and subdue her.
